Text

Start:

SAM: That鈥檚 the way it is, Hally.

HALLY: It doesn鈥檛 have to be that way. There is something called progress, you know. We don鈥檛 exactly burn people at the stake any more.

SAM: Like Joan of Arc.

[... 鈥 鈥

End:

HALLY: It鈥檚 the likes of you that kept the Inquisition in business. It鈥檚 called bigotry. Anyway, that鈥檚 my man of magnitude. Charles Darwin! Who鈥檚 yours?

SAM: (without hesitation) Abraham Lincoln.

HALLY: I might have guessed as much. Don鈥檛 get sentimental, Sam. You鈥檝e never been a slave, you know. And anyway we freed your ancestors here in South Africa long before the Americans.
