Text

(Assumes formal speaking demeanor) Thank you. Ladies and Gentlemen . . . (pauses for effect, turns his gaze upwards into the audience, clasps his hands before him or behind his back, and begins) Imagine, if you will, a playground. The sort of playground you might play on every day if you’re a child. The kind you used to play on if you’re now an adult. (Smiles artificially at the audience) Over here, a kickball game is getting underway. (Points DSR) Here, some girls are getting their jump ropes ready for a session of “double Dutch. (Points DSL) And right here in the middle, some boys are choosing up sides for a game of baseball. (Points DSC) A perfectly peaceful and pleasant scene, one that will bring a smile to many faces, and a tear of fond remembrance to others.
