An鈥� I want lots an鈥� lots of kids. If I only coulda had me some kids I鈥� I never would have鈥� I鈥檇 never have got into no trouble. I鈥檓 sure of it.

And I also wanted Bessie鈥檚 big sound, but my voice wasn鈥檛 big like that, so between the two of them I sort of got Billie Holiday. But Pops Armstrong and Bessie Smith on the victrola was sort of Mom and Pop to me.
