Introduction

Cameron Anthony Mackintosh was born October 17, 1946 in London, England. His mother was a production secretary and his father was a timber merchant and jazz trumpeter. Mackintosh decided to become a theatre producer at the age of eight after his aunt took him to a matinee show of Salad Days, a musical by Julian Slade. Mackintosh has a younger brother, Robert, who is also a producer.

Mackintosh met his partner, Michael Le Poer Trench, at the 1982 opening night of Mackintosh’s production of Oklahoma! in Adelaide Australia. The couple live between their homes in London, Somerset, and the Scottish Highlands. Mackintosh, an open member of the LGBTQ+ community, has been named one of the Top 5 “Out-and-Proud� influential people on the Independent newspaper’s Pink List. Mackintosh is also a patron of The Food Chain, an HIV charity based in London.

For his contributions to the arts, Mackintosh has been on top of The Stage 100 list, a list of the most influential people in the performing arts community. Cameron Mackintosh was knighted in 1996 and is the owner of eight major theatres in London’s West End.

  • 2017 - Mackintosh brings Hamilton to London.
